XLSior is an Excel add-in that provides support for the spreadsheet development process. It helps you to test your spreadsheet calculations, document your workbooks automatically, make it easy to add your own documentation, manage the sheets in your workbooks, save versions and releases, and provide an audit trail for information imported from other workbooks.

There are many tools that help you to audit existing spreadsheets, and some that provide useful utilities that you can use during development. XLSior is not designed to replace these; its emphasis is on supporting you through the development process and making it easy to apply coding and layout standards. The easiest and quickest way to remove errors from your spreadsheets is to prevent them from arising in the first place. Good development practices, as encouraged by the use of XLSior, make errors far less likely to creep in.

You can hide or protect a group of sheets with a few clicks of the mouse, and unhide and unprotect sheets in the same way. You can also reorder the sheets in your workbook from one easy screen.

Saving versions and releases

is an important aspect of separating development and deployment, and making sure that only fully tested workbooks that are know to work properly are used. XLSior provides you with mechanisms for keeping backup versions of workbooks, snapshots that enable you to return to earlier copies, and for differentiating these from releases, copies that can be used in earnest by users.
